Orthostatic Vitals

ORTHOSTATIC VITALS EXAM

  • Ensure you have the patient’s supine measurements for BP and HR
  • Wait 1 minute then measure HR, then after an additional 1 minute, measure BP
  • Threshold for orthostatic hypotension = 30-20-10 rule
    • 30 HR ↑
    • 20 SBP ↓
    • 10 DBP ↓
